Melanie Martinez Philadelphia_ Dollhouse Tour_ 1/28/2015

Melanie Martinez made her appearance at the World Cafe Live, located in Philadelphia PA.

The opening band ( AJRbrothers) took the stage first and pumped-up the crowd with their incredible and unique pop-fusion music style.

The crowd took to their feet as the divine and fabulous Melanie Martinez took the stage.

Melanie's unique style has gained her an amazing following. Her tragically amazing love songs will sure have you swaying and in tune with your emotions. Her funky beat drops will have you jumping off of your feet.

I managed to take a few pictures of the glorious event.

The Other Women: Poem submitted by Hector Garibay: Age- 15

The Other Women

The other women,

her cheeks blossomed like red roses flourishing in the summer light.

Her spirit was of millions of stars dancing in a line of romantic constellations.

Her smile pierced the heart of any man that dared to stare,

She was perfect,

But I am not like the other women,

For her beauty stole the spirit that entwined with mine.

~Hector Garibay, 15

Motivos Magazine Team Meeting (Wednesday:11.26.2014)

<--- The team, Sasha Rivera, Allen Williams, Emmanuel Coreano (Me), and Kyree Mack @ Federal Donuts

Motivos Magazine is a bilingual magazine for youth, largely written by youth. I've had the amazing opportunity to intern at this amazing magazine. I became an editorial intern and it has been the most amazing thing I've ever achieved, I've traveled to New York, Gone to Conferences, Community Meetings, and so much more since I began here. Apart from my internship I am a part of the "Advisory Board," which is basically the youth that help create the magazine. Yesterday Wednesday 11/26/2014, The team and I had the amazing opportunity to receive a small photography lesson courtesy of Ron Nichols.

I learned so many new photography tips due to this lesson, we discussed

  • Shutter Speed
  • Depth To Field
  • Lighting

&
So much more.

I put my skills to the test with these pictures:

El Centro de Estudiantes Harvest Party

A great way to celebrate the day before our Thanksgiving break. The evening was filled with joy, laughs, dancing, rapping, and most importantly FOOD! Party time started exactly at 9:45am through 11:45am, too early to party? Not in my school; people were on chairs over looking the dance battles happening beneath their feet. We had fantastic rap performances, I watched as the school cheered on our peers.

Dj Loso, providing sick beats.

Myself posing in front of the lights, love these kind of lights. ->

My advisory teacher, Ms. Amy and a student.

A day filled with lots of fun, I mainly documented the event, I'm not really a party person. Sit back and watch that's how I roll. Tootsie roll.

My friends Rosemary Sanchez, Paige Mackenzie, Euraliz Lopez, and I sat on the sidelines of the event, laughing, eating, having a great time.

Shout-out to the following

A letter from the creator

Dear reader,
The Writers Shack is for anybody. No matter your race, religion, or sexual orientation anybody is welcome to the writers shack. I want this blog to be an outlet for young writers, poets, and musicians, so that we can get our voice heard. A lot of people may belittle and discourage you, but you have the power to do great things in life. The Writers Shack wants you to submit poetry, short stories, your life story, music and anything else that helps us get your word and your voice heard.

Sincerely,
Emmanuel Coreano
